Mrs. Delois Claiborne Brown of Winston Salem, N.C., formerly of Halifax County, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2012, at her residence at the age of 60.
Mrs. Brown was born in South Boston on July 14, 1952, and was the daughter of the late Mr. Jessie Wilson Claiborne and Mrs. Verta Palmer Scott. She was married to Mr. Larry James Brown and was a member of Piney Grove Baptist Church in Winston Salem. Mrs. Brown was employed by Sara Lee Industries.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Mrs. Kimbley Syms and husband Harold of Winston Salem; one son, Mr. Andre’ Brown of Winston Salem; one step-daughter, Mrs. Letitia Warren and husband Dewitt of Washington, N.C.; three grandchildren, Kya, Kyndra and Myles Syms of Winston Salem; four brothers, Mr. Jessie Claiborne Jr. and wife Doris of San Antonio, Texas, Mr. Wayne Claiborne and wife Brenda of Newport News, Mr. Charles Claiborne and wife Shirley of South Boston and Mr. Dwight Scott and wife Stephanie of Scottsburg; three sisters, Mrs. Mary Jackson and husband Willie of Nathalie, Mrs. Janice Claiborne and husband George of Melbourne, Fla. and Mrs. Barbara Brame and husband Randy of Clinton, Md.; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Bertha Brown of Roper, N.C. and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Brown will be Friday, Oct. 26, 2012, at 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church on Ferry Street with the Rev. Moses Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in the Five Fork Baptist Church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Ms. Janice Claiborne, 100 Robinson Court, South Boston.
