Mrs. Inez Yates Vaughan of South Boston died, Wednesday, Sept. 26, 2012, at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Halifax County on April 14, 1929 and was 83 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Albert Johnson Yates and Molly Duffer Yates and is survived by her husband, Edd Earl Vaughan.
Mrs. Vaughan was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Karen Hudson and husband Ricky of South Boston; one son, Earl Dale Vaughan and wife Linda of Scottsburg; three grandchildren, Tommy Hudson and wife Melanie of Clover, Tabitha Cash and husband Joey of South Boston, and Candice Malone of Greenville, Tenn.; two great-grandchildren, Josie Cash and Gabe Cash; one brother, Albert Yates of Bedford; three sisters, Helen Rice and husband Ray of Ohio, Janie Hudson and husband Mack of Richmond and Louise Conner and husband Judd of Scottsburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.
One great-grandson, Colin Hudson; one brother, Chester Yates; and two sisters, Lydia Watts and Maggie Garnett, also preceded Mrs. Vaughan in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Second Baptist Church, South Boston with the Revs. Vance Midgett and Daniel Thomas officiating. Burial will follow in Halifax Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Friday from 7:00 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at the home of Ricky and Karen Hudson, 2803 North Main Street, South Boston.
