April Lynn Bryant departed this life suddenly and left our hearts and minds in sorrow on Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, in Los Angeles, Calif. April was born Sept. 20, 1979. April is survived by her devoted and loving mother, Gilda Edmonds Bryant of Los Angeles; and her grandmother, Thelma Jennings Edmonds of Halifax.
She was preceded in death by her deeply loved and dedicated father, Dempsey Oliver Bryant; and her grandfather, Hula David Edmonds.
She also leaves her aunts and uncles, Hula Carlos Edmonds (Jan) of Silver Spring, Md., Linda Edmonds Turner (John) of Boston, Mass. and Sandra Edmonds Crewe (Dwight) of Largo, Md. She is also mourned by Alexis Allen (her special little sister) and Alexis’ grandfather, Johnnie Allen of Los Angeles; her first cousins Dwight (Cokey), Leslie, Paul, Carla, Janna, and Johnathan; her great uncles and great aunts, Myrtle Easley and Lena Logan (Leslie), and Matrice Jennings all of Halifax, Ruth Coles of Silver Spring, Frank Jennings and Ira Jennings (Yvonne), all of New Carrollton, Md.
April was a 2001 graduate of Howard University, Washington, D.C. in fashion merchandising (BA). She had a rewarding career in her field.
In lieu of flowers and expressions of sympathy, the family is asking that contributions be made in honor of April to the Howard University College of Arts and Sciences, Department Art /Fine Arts Division.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Sept. 28, at 11 a.m. at New Zion Baptist Church, Nathalie, with the Rev. Willie N. Yancey officiating. The remains will lie-in-state at the church one hour prior to the service Friday.
The interment will be at First Baptist Church Cemetery in Meadville.
Family and friends will be received at the family home following the service.
