Mrs. Emma Royal Logan Fleetwood of Old Grubby Road, South Boston died Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at her residence at the age of 98.
Mrs. Fleetwood was born in Halifax County, on Aug. 18, 1914 to the late Mr. William Drew Royal and Mrs. Mary Stewart Royal. She was first married to the late Mr. William Logan and later married the late Mr. William McKinley Fleetwood. She was a member of Berry Hill Baptist Church.
Mrs. Fleetwood is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Doris Lofton of Bellevue, Wash., Mrs. Willo Taylor and Ms. Joyce Logan, both of Jamaica, N.Y.; one son, Mr. Ellis Logan of Lawrenceville, Ga.; two daughters-in-law, Carol and Susan; 22 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; 22 great-great-grandchildren; one great–great-great-grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her husbands and parents, she was preceded in death by three brothers, Mr. John Royal, Mr. Doc Royal and Mr. Jake Royal; two sisters, Ms. Golden Royal and Ms. Dorothy Royal.
Funeral services for Mrs. Emma Royal Logan Fleetwood will be held on Saturday, Sept. 22, at 11 a.m. with services at Berry Hill Baptist Church with the Rev. Willie N. Yancey and Minister June D. Claiborne officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Friday from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
