William Lester “Les” Younger, 91, of Richmond, formerly of Lynchburg passed away on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, surrounded by his family.
Les was the youngest of 10 children born to William Fletcher and Rosa Shapard Younger. He was the husband of the late Mary Fazzi Younger, and they were married for 69 years.
He is survived by four children, Mary Margaret Mason, William L. Younger Jr. and his wife, Julia, Dorothy Richards and husband Ron and Elizabeth Stevens and her husband, David; eight grandchildren, Bridget Murrell, Julia Sitzmann, Leslie D’Alessandro, April Richards, Cheryl Read, Patrick Stevens, Andrew Stevens and Daniel Stevens; and seven great-grandchildren.
Les was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, a World War II Army veteran and was a retired engineer with C & P Telephone Company.
A memorial service was held Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Bliley’s-Staples Mill, 8510 Staples Mill Road. Visitation followed until 4 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church.
