Mr. Calvin Coolidge King of South Boston died Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at The Woodview at the age of 87.
Mr. King was born in Halifax County on April 30, 1925 to the late Mr. David King and Mrs. Lina Puryear King. He was married to the late Mrs. Eva Talley King and was a member of Jeter Chapel Baptist Church.
Survivors include four daughters, Mrs. Eva Stovall and husband Giles, Mrs. Evelyn Pannell and husband Chester, Ms. Emma King and Ms. Rosa King, all of South Boston; two sons, Mr. John King and Mr. Calvin King, both of South Boston; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; four sisters-in-law; one brother-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends, including the devoted Ms. Charlene Boxley, Mr. Robert Thaxton and Mr. Thomas Lawson.
In addition to his parents and wife, five brothers and six sisters also preceded Mr. King in death.
Funeral services will be held today, Sept. 10, 2012, at 2 p.m. at Jeter Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Antori Brown officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Giles and Eva Stovall, 1104 Second Street, South Boston.
Public viewing for family and friends was Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
