Virginia Elsie Moneymaker Jones, 84, of Petersburg passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012.
Born in Petersburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Lena Moneymaker; and was also preceded in death by her husband, John Douglas Jones.
Virginia loved to cook and go fishing. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her daughter, Debra Leukhardt; a sister, Sue Gotte; and a brother, Clarence ‘Skimp’ Moneymaker.
Survivors include two daughters, Patricia Martin of South Boston and Linda Michalek and husband Frank of Chesterfield; five grandchildren, James ‘Jimmy’ Martin and wife Becky of South Boston, Kristle Sloan and husband Charles of Hopewell, Selena Phillips and husband Andrew of Maryland, Frank Michalek III and wife Amy of Chesterfield, and Lauren Hardesty and husband Jonathan of Maryland; seven great-grandchildren, Peyton and Shae Sloan, Hunter and Madison Michalek, Amelie and Kadyn Martin, and Lillian Phillips; brothers, Joe, Bailey, Roy, Tom, Frank and Lewis Moneymaker; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family received friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 15, 2012, at the Petersburg Chapel of J.T. Morriss and Son Funeral Home and Cremation Service.
A funeral service was conducted at 10 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 16, 2012, at the funeral home with the Rev. Dr. Ivan Perkinson officiating. Interment followed in Blandford Cemetery.
