Mrs. Shirley Daniel Hunt of 104 Robin Hood Road, South Boston died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at the age of 81. She was born July 16, 1931 to the late John Robert Daniel and the late Rowena Smith Daniel and was married to Roy M. Hunt.
She was a retired employee of Winn Dixie Supermarkets where she was the head cashier/bookkeeper, a member of Black Walnut Baptist Church serving as a former Sunday school teacher and also a member of the Southern Belles Bowling League.
Survivors include her husband, Roy M. Hunt, of South Boston; daughter Patricia Hunt Dobson and husband Carlton of Nathalie; a son, John Kevin Hunt, and wife Colleen of Chesapeake; a grandson, Timothy Daniel Dobson; a granddaughter, Rebecca L. Dobson, and fiancé, Aaron Compton; a special niece, Judy Vicks; a special nephew, Mike Chandler; a special nephew, Robert Hunt and wife Joyce Hann; and a number of other nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a granddaughter, Mary Beth Dobson; and a sister, Elizabeth Chandler.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Sept. 3, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Raymond Wooten officiating. Burial will follow in Black Walnut Baptist Church Cemetery. The family received friends at Brooks Funeral Home Sunday night from 7 until 8:30, and at other times at the home.
