Rev. Harold Bruce Emswiler, 79, of Broadway, died Aug. 17, 2012 at his residence.
He was born Oct. 17, 1932 at Cootes Store and was a son of the late Mark Dewey and Erma Cleta Mitchell Emswiler.
On Feb. 15, 1953 Harold was ordained into the Mennonite Church as a minister. He was the founder and minister of Timberville Mennonite Church, and he ministered to a number of other churches. He was also a farmer, diesel mechanic and a truck driver.
On April 4, 1953 he married the former Anna Lee Foltz, who survives.
He is survived by three sons, Dewey B. Emswiler and wife Frances of Shenandoah, Raymond M. Emswiler and wife Joann of Moorefield, W.V., Verlyn D. Emswiler and wife Ruth of South Boston; two daughters, LeAnna E. Good and husband Roland of Eureka, Nev., and Marilyn E. Layman and husband Tony of Bergton; three sisters, Doris Benner of McGaheysville, Betty Good of Broadway and Bonnie Lahman of Broadway; daughter-in-law, Ruth Emswiler of Broadway; 12 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Ruth Emswiler, and one brother, Mark Emswiler.
Pastors Fred Rhodes and Robert Weaver will conduct a funeral service at 2 p.m. Monday at Trissels Mennonite Church in Broadway. Burial will be in the Trissels Mennonite Church cemetery.
The family received friends from 3 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the Grandle Funeral Home in Broadway.
