Espey Roy Jones Jr. of 2522 Halifax Road passed away Saturday, Aug. 11, 2012 at Durham VA Medical Center at the age of 83. Mr. Jones was born July 26,1929 and was married to Virginia “Jenny” Williams Jones who survives. He was a retired loom fixer at J.P. Stevens, a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, a former member of the Masonic Lodge and served in the United States Army.
In addition to his wife, Espey Roy Jones Jr. is survived by his daughters, Patsy J. LeBoeuf and husband, John of South Boston, Susan J. Sandridge and husband Michael of Hanover; one son, Michael Jones and wife Jackie of Ringgold; two brothers, Reginald Jones of Charlotte, N.C., Donald Jones, of South Boston; eight grandchildren, Matthew Sandridge and wife Candace, Eric Sandridge and wife Nicole, Brian Jones and wife Amanda, Heather Bailey and husband Brad, Ashley Jones, Lucas Jones, Taylor Jones, John LeBoeuf Jr.; four great-grandchildren, Brian Michael Jones II, Kinsley Jones, Willow Bailey and Madelyn Jackson. Mr. Jones was preceded in death by his parents, Espey Roy Jones Sr. and Erva Brooks Jones, two brothers, Tom Jones, Jimmy Jones; and a sister, Erva Delores “Dee” Michelli.
Funeral services for Espey Roy Jones Jr. will be held Tuesday, Aug. 14 at 1 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Edward F. Rigg officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Monday, Aug. 13 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Brooks Funeral Home and at other times at the home.
