David Lee Carrington

Mr. David Lee Carrington of 4068 Clays Mill Road, Scottsburg died Monday, Aug. 6, 2012, in Arrington at the age of 59.

Mr. Carrington was born in Halifax County on Oct. 17, 1952, and was the son of the late Mr. Albert Sprattley and Mrs. Frances Carrington Reed. He was married to Mrs. JoAnn Dixon Carrington. He was a deacon and trustee at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Nathalie, and he was employed by Halifax Regional Health System. He served in the United States Army National Guard for over 20 years.

In addition to his wife, survivors include two daughters, Mrs. Katrina Hartridge and husband Leon, and Ms. Katina Carrington, both of South Boston; two grandchildren, Mr. Damion Hartridge and Ms. Janya Jackson, both of South Boston; one brother, Mr. Luther Reed of Halifax; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Mary P. Dixon of Clover; four brothers-in-law, Mr. James Dixon and wife Linda, the Rev. Moses Dixon and wife Linda, all of Clover, Mr. John Dixon and wife Jackie of Vernon Hill, and Mr. Alvin Dixon and wife Sabrina of Mt. Laurel; three sisters-in-law, Ms. Lucille Penick of Vernon Hill, Mrs. Margaret Edmondson and husband James of Richmond, and Ms. Maria Powell of Clover; three aunts; one uncle; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Mr. Carrington will be Friday, Aug. 10, at 1 p.m. at Traynham Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Dr. Ronald Claiborne officiating. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church cemetery with full military honors.

The family is receiving friends at the residence.

Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
