Mr. Wayne Dixon of Spring Avenue, South Boston, died Friday, July 27, 2012, at Lynchburg General Hospital at the age of 68.
Mr. Dixon was born in Halifax County on Sept. 16, 1943 to the late Mr. Huler Dixon and Mrs. Etta Jane Coleman Dixon. He was married to Mrs. Mary Mills Dixon and was a former employee of H&M Logging Company.
Mr. Dixon is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mary M. Dixon; two daughters, Ms. Pakita Dixon of Cluster Springs and Ms. Tiffaney Dixon of South Boston; two sons, Mr. Stacy Dixon of South Boston and Mr. Kerry Dixon of Atlanta, Ga.; five grandchildren; six sisters, Mrs. Naomi Fitzgerald of Danville, Mrs. Alma “Jean” Chaney of Ringgold, Mrs. Dorothy Mills of South Boston, Mrs. Marie Stone of Dry Fork, Mrs. Debra Mickens of Lanham, Md. and Mrs. Pearl Miller of Decatur, Ga.; three brothers, Mr. John Dixon of Halifax, Mr. Huler Dixon and Mr. Robert Dixon, both of Washington, D.C.; one daughter-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Wayne Dixon will be Saturday, Aug. 4, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Union Grove C.M.E. Church with Rev. Shirley Woody officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Mrs. Dorothy Mills, 1090 Sinai Road, South Boston. Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
