Mr. Arey Weldon Ward of Halifax died Thursday, July 19, 2012, at the Halifax Regional Hospital.
He was born in Halifax County March 4, 1951 and was 61 years old. He was the son of the late Thomas Weldon Ward and the late Betty Rose Crews McKinney and was married to Phyllis Ann Ward who survives.
He attended The Bible Baptist Church and was a facilitator with Revlon.
He was an avid fisherman and was a founding member of the Buggs Island Bass Masters and a member of the organization for over 20 years. He won many trophies and awards in B.A.S.S. tournaments over the years.
Mr. Arey Weldon Ward is survived by one son, Tom Ward, of South Boston; one brother, David Ward, of Halifax; one sister, Ruby Roark, of Nathalie; one granddaughter, Hannah Ward, of Nathalie; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Funeral services for Mr. Arey Weldon Ward were held at Powell Funeral Home Chapel, Sunday, July 22, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Chris McGee officiating. Burial will follow in Childrey Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at his home 1085 Daniels Trail, Halifax.
