Mr. Willie “Joe” McKinnon Jr. of Osborne Lane, South Boston died July 1, 2012 at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 66.
Mr. McKinnon was born in Raeford, N.C. April 2, 1946 and was the son of the late Mr. Willie J. McKinnon Sr. and Mrs. Annie Mae Young McKinnon. He was married to the Rev. Joyce Williams McKinnon and was a member of Mount Pleasant Christian Methodist Episcopal Church.
Mr. McKinnon was a retired employee of the District of Columbia Public Schools, and after his retirement he owned and operated a trucking business.
Mr. William “Joe” McKinnon Jr. is survived by his wife; two sons, Mr. William O. McKinnon III of Landover Hills, Md. and Mr. Adrian McKinnon and wife Bennita of Buford, Ga.; two daughters, Mrs. Vicki Pannell and husband Walker of Gretna, and Mrs. Tanicka Robeson and husband Joseph of Greensboro, N.C.; five grandchildren; two brothers, Mr. Jeffery McKinnon and wife Joan of Smyrna, Ga. and Mr. Frederick McKinnon and wife Cheryl of Hampton; two sisters, Mrs. Annie Patricia McKeller of Fayetteville, N.C. and Mrs. Bridget Holiday and husband Theron of Raleigh, N.C.; devoted relative, Ms. Marcia Henry; and a host of nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins and friends.
Funeral services for Mr. Willie “Joe” McKinnon Jr. will be held Friday, July 6, at 3 p.m. with services at Mt. Pleasant Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Evon Bush officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 1021 Osborne Lane, South Boston.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
