Mr. William Edward Green of McDonald Road, Scottsburg died Friday, June 29, 2012, at his residence at the age of 84.
Mr. Green was born in Halifax County Oct. 23, 1927 to the late Elder Clarence Green and Mrs. Alberta Mitchell Green. He was married to Mrs. Elizabeth Dotson Green and was affiliated with Morning Star Holiness Church.
Mr. Green was a retired employee of Dan River Mills.
Mr. William Edward Green is survived by his wife; five children, Mrs. Lillie Mae Hargett and husband Sonny of Washington, D.C., Mr. Willie Green and wife Hilda of Cascade, Mr. James Green and wife Gwen of Danville, Ms. Cynthia Mitchell of Danville and Mrs. Jerrine Baker and husband Wendell of Huntsville, Texas; five grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two brothers, Mr. David Green and wife Carolyn of Oruum, N.C. and Mr. Joseph C. Green and wife Katherine of Pflugerville, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Green was preceded in death by his oldest son, Leandrus.
Funeral services for Mr. William Edward Green will be held Friday, July 6, at 11 a.m. at The Crawford House Chapel at 721 N. Main Street in Halifax. Burial will follow in the Oak Ridge Cemetery.
Public viewing for family and friends will be Thursday from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home. The family is receiving friends at the residence, 2180 McDonald Road, Scottsburg.
