Maryann Moorefield, 60, of Manakin-Sabot died Sunday, June 24, after a courageous battle with liver disease. Maryann was the beloved wife of 36 years of W. Michael Moorefield.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Miranda and Teddy Reynolds of New York, N.Y., and Melissa and Mike Saulsbury of Atlanta, Ga.; as well as her granddaughter, Blair Saulsbury. She is also survived by her mother, Irene Bretzel; her brother and sister-in-law, Ken and Elaine Bretzel, all of Mechanicsburg, Pa.; her father-and mother-in-law, Watt and June Moorefield of Scottsburg; and her faithful, loving dog, Dudley.
She was preceded in death by her father, Albert Bretzel; and sister-in-law, Kathy Moorefield. Born in Philadelphia, Pa., she graduated from Mechanicsburg High School and received a Bachelor's degree in English and Theater Arts from Shippensburg University. She was an extremely loving and devoted wife, mother, daughter and friend. Her greatest joy was her family and friends. She loved to travel and was an enthusiastic patron of the arts especially movies, plays and musicals. Supporting her husband, daughters and their friends in their accomplishments gave her great pleasure and she will be missed tremendously.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 27, at Bliley's - Central, 3801 Augusta Avenue, Richmond, VA. A Mass of Christian burial will be held Thursday, June 28, at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Richmond. Burial will follow at Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Boston.
