Mr. McArthur Stephens Sr. of 2081 Elkhorn Road, Java, died Saturday, June 16, 2012, at Danville Regional Hospital at the age of 62.
Mr. Stephens was born in Halifax County on Oct. 10, 1949 to the late Mr. Irvin Stephens and Mrs. Lucy Tucker Stephens. He was a member of Elkhorn Baptist Church and was married to Mrs. Donna Luck Stephens.
Mr. Stephens is survived by his spouse, Mrs. Donna L. Stephens; four sons, Mr. McArthur Stephens II of Fredericksburg, Mr. Eric D. Stephens of Java, Mr. Rex S. Stephens of Nathalie and Mr. Donte’ Harris of Danville; one grandchild, Xavier Miller of Gretna; four sisters, Mrs. Mary Younger of Halifax, Mrs. Rosa Logan of Rock Hill, S.C., Mrs. Ethel Venable of Nathalie and Mrs. Geraldine Norwood of Tampa, Fla.; four brothers, Mr. Roy Stephens and Mr. Clyde Brooks, both of South Boston, Mr. Robert Stephens of Richmond and Mr. Jerome Brooks of Tampa, Fla.; a devoted friend, Ms. Joyce Ann Irvin of Java; three brothers-in-law; five sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Stephens was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Geneva Jones, and four brothers, Mr. Ernest Stephens, Mr. Eddie Stephens, Mr. Harold Stephens and Mr. Michael Brooks.
Funeral services for Mr. McArthur Stephens Sr. will be Thursday, June 21, 2012, at 11 a.m. with services at Elkhorn Baptist Church in Nathalie with the Rev. Dr. C. Lewis Motley officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Public viewing for Mr. Stephens will be Wednesday, June 20, 2012, from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. at the Crawford House Chapel in Halifax.
The family will receive friends at 1200 East Elkhorn Road, Nathalie.
