Mr. Neil Vernon Perkins Sr. of 1242 Brad Smith Trail, Nathalie died Tuesday, June 12, 2012, at Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born Aug. 23, 1930 in Halifax County, and was the son of the late Walter Terry Perkins and Daisy Whitt Perkins. He is survived by his wife, Janie Ellen Puryear Perkins.
Mr. Perkins was a member of Crystal Hill Southern Baptist Church and was a U. S. Army Veteran of the Korean Conflict.
In addition to his wife of Nathalie, survivors include two daughters, Kathleen Perkins Parker and husband Walter of Halifax and Judy Perkins Ford and husband Billy of Virgilina; one son, Neil Vernon Perkins Jr. of Nathalie; eight grandchildren, Justin Bradley Eubank of Clarksville, Ginger Eubank Davis of Virgilina, Jeffrey Daniel Eubank of Clarksville, Jacqueline Eubank Wyrick of Reidsville, N.C., Lori Parker Lute of Charlottesville, Walter Benjamin Parker of Tuscaloosa, Ala., Brian Terry Parker of Arlington, and Jennifer Lynn Perkins Francisco of Nathalie; and six great-grandchildren.
One son, Richard Terry Perkins, also preceded him in death.
A graveside service for Mr. Perkins will be held at Crystal Hill Southern Baptist Church Cemetery on Thursday, June 14, 2012, at 1 p.m. with military rites. The Revs. Robert Hurd, Jack Stewart and Dr. Michael Parnell will officiate.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home, Wednesday, June 13, 2012, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
