Mrs. Ruth Faulkner Paniel of Bill Tuck Highway, South Boston, died Friday, June 8, 2012, at Halifax Regional Hospital at the age of 94.
Mrs. Paniel was born in South Boston on Dec. 30, 1917 to the late Mr. Lee Faulkner and Mrs. Obie Newman Faulkner. She was married to the late Mr. Nicodemus Paniel and was a member of Dan River View Missionary Baptist Church.
Mrs. Paniel is survived by three daughters, Mrs. Pauline Roberts of Bronx, N.Y., Ms. Mary Paniel of South Boston and Mrs. Theresa Bowman and husband Barry, of Chesterfield; four sons, Mr. Willie Lee Paniel and wife Mildred, and Mr. Fred Paniel, all of Baltimore, Md., Mr. Andrew Paniel and wife Susie, Mr. Jerry Paniel, all of South Boston; five grandchildren; six great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Paniel was preceded in death by two sons, Mr. Linwood Paniel and Mr. Nick Alexander Paniel.
Funeral services for Mrs. Ruth Faulkner Paniel will be Thursday, June 14, 2012, at 11 a.m. at Dan River View Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Samuel Burton and the Rev. Vaughn Brayboy officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 2196 Bill Tuck Highway, South Boston.
