Charles Vivian Gilliam Evans of Buffalo Junction died Thursday, June 7, 2012, at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Nelson County on Dec. 10, 1927 to Charles Henry and Lillian Harvey Gilliam. Vivian was married to Frederick Carlyle Evans Jr.
She was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church, Daughters of the American Revolution, Parsons Bruce Association, a local garden club, and bridge clubs in South Boston and Clarksville.
Vivian is survived by daughters, Marcia (Carlton) Gravitt, Mary Beth (Lonnie) Moore, Kimberly Griffin, and Winnie (Mark) Ferrell; sons, Fred Evans (Debbie) and Victor Evans; grandchildren, Arron and Anne Carlton Gravitt, Trad and Lyle Moore, Tyler and Courtney Griffin, and Victoria Evans; sister, Margie Gilliam Carter; five nieces; and one nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and a sister, Kathleen G. Mowell.
Funeral services were held at Main Street United Methodist Church, Sunday, June 10, 2012, at 3 p.m. with the Rev. Ed Rigg officiating. A private burial will follow.
The family received friends at the home of Lonnie and Mary Beth Moore, 2221 River Road, South Boston on Saturday from 2 until 7 p.m.
