Mrs. Annie Wilbourne Owen of 2084 Old Cluster Springs Road, South Boston passed away Sunday, June 3, 2012, at her home.
She was born in Halifax County March 8, 1932 and was 80 years old. She was the daughter of the late John Oliver Wilbourne and Rose Lee Matthews Wilbourne and was married to Calvin B. Owen who survives.
She was a member of Ash Avenue Baptist Church.
She is survived by two sons, Kenneth T. Owen and wife Sherry of South Boston and Jerry D. Owen of Charlotte, N.C.; two granddaughters, Jessica L. Owen of South Boston and Jennifer L. Owen of South Boston; six sisters, Rosa Edna W. Allen of Salisbury, N.C., Mary Alice Harris of Lexington, N.C., Mamie Pearl W. Regan of Timberlake, N.C., Bettie Doris W. Oha of Roxboro, N.C., Fannie Mary Wilbourne of Charlotte, N.C., Lizzie Jane W. Wilder of Denton, N.C.; and one brother, Henry Logan Wilbourne of Lexington, N.C.
Annie is preceded in death by three sisters, Susan Ella Wilbourne, Sallie Nannibet W. Holbrook and Pettie Mariah W. Frick, and by two brothers, John Oliver Wilbourne Jr. and Frank Edward Wilborne.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, June 6, at 11 a.m. at Ash Avenue Baptist Church with the Rev. John Eure conducting the service. Burial will follow at Halifax Memorial Gardens. The family received friends at Powell Funeral Home Tuesday evening from 7-8:30 p.m. and other times at her home.
