James Floyd Clemmons Tuck, 85, of Oxford, N.C., husband of Edith Frazier Tuck, passed away Monday, May 28, 2012, at his home. James was born Oct. 7, 1926 in Halifax County to the late James Charlie and Mary Rice Tuck. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II. Retiring from Burlington Industries after 43 years service, Mr. Tuck continued farming. He loved to hunt, raise dogs, fish, and play ball; and when he could no longer play, enjoyed going to the games.
He was a member of Amis Chapel Baptist Church, where he served in many positions, including trustee.
Funeral services will be held at Amis Chapel Baptist Church at 11 a.m. Wednesday with the Rev. Terry Howard officiating. Interment, with Military honors, will follow in the Virgilina Cemetery.
In addition to his wife, Mr. Tuck is survived by his children, Ronald M. Tuck (Shortie) of Oxford, Joyce T. Oakley (Arnold) of Roxboro, Franklin W. Frazier (Sherri), and Betsy F. Hart (Bruce), all of Oxford; 11 grandchildren; 16 great grandchildren; his sisters, Janet Stinson, Frances Griffith; and brother, Charlie Clifton Tuck (Carolyn), all of Florida He was preceded in death by his first wife, Lucille E. Tuck; sister, Katie T. Story; and brothers, John Thomas Tuck and Lawrence E. Tuck.
