Mary Susan Medlin, 61, of 306 Montford Drive, Roxboro, N.C. died Thursday, May 24, 2012, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill. Born in Person County, Ms. Medlin was the daughter of the late Ralph Edward Medlin Jr. and Kathleen “Teena” Wilkins Lacy. Ms. Medlin attended Averett College and worked for Reliance Insurance Company as an underwriter. She was a member of Roxboro Baptist Church. “Susie” can be remembered for her love of animals and her passion for riding and showing horses. She especially loved her two cats, Missy and Spindley.
Ms. Medlin is survived by her stepfather, Dr. Mac Lacy, of South Boston; one step-sister, Lally Jennings and her husband, Dr. Foster Jennings, of Richmond; one aunt, Peggy Linville, of Roxboro; three uncles, Winkie Wilkins and wife Frances of Roxboro, Mike Wilkins and wife Jackie of Cary, N.C. and Ray Wilkins and wife Jennifer of Roxboro. She is also survived by her caregiver, Gladys Day.
Her stepfather, Ernest Granger, also preceded Ms. Medlin in death.
Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 27, 2012, at Roxboro Baptist Church by the Rev. Chris Schelin. Burial followed in the Oak Ridge Cemetery in South Boston.
Visitation was held from 1 to 2 p.m. Sunday at Roxboro Baptist Church prior to the service. At other times, family members will be at the home of Winkie and Frances Wilkins, 210 Fair Oaks Drive, Roxboro.
Honorary pallbearers were Bob Linville, Frank Kirby, Wyn Wilkins, Mac Wilkins, Brett Wilkins, Jimmy English, Gil Stovall, Bill Granger and Hal Medlin Jr.
