Robert Carroll Seat Sr.

Mr. Robert Carroll Seat Sr. of 1323 Washington Avenue, South Boston died Saturday, May 20, 2012, at his home.

He was born in Virgilina on Dec. 25, 1924 and was 87 years old.

He was the son of the late Arthur Russell Seat Sr. and Winifred Bagby Seat and was married to Grace Temple Seat who survives.

He was a retired vice president with Suntrust Bank, formerly the Citizens Bank.

He also was a member of First Presbyterian Church where he was a former deacon, elder and church treasurer.

He also was a past member of the Halifax Country Club, was a former member of the Jaycees and was a WWII Army Aircorp veteran.

Survivors include his wife, Grace Temple Seat, of South Boston; one son, Robert Carroll “Bob” Seat and fiance’ Patricia of South Boston; two granddaughters, Katye Temple Nelson and husband Jody of South Boston and Emily Carol Seat of South Boston; two nieces, Martha S. Howard and husband Steve of Asheville, N.C. and Trudy Temple of Las Vegas, Nevada; one nephew, B. L. Temple and wife Vickie of Springfield, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his brother and sister-in-law, A. Russell Seat Jr. and wife Marie Seat.

A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, May 22, 2012, at 11 a.m. at First Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Dr. Russell Lee conducting the service. Burial will follow at the Virgilina Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home Monday evening from 7 to 8:30 p.m. and other times at his home.
