Mrs. Roberta Wilborn Stewart of Clover died Monday, May 14, 2012, at The Chase City Health and Rehab Center at the age of 93.
Mrs. Stewart was born in Halifax County on March 12, 1919, and was the daughter of the late Mr. Willie Hodge Wilborn and Mrs. Lucinda Garrett Wilborn. She was married to the late Mr. David Burrous Stewart and was a member of Bethel Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include one sister, Mrs. Grace Gilliam of New York City, N.Y.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Lemuel Gilliam of New York City; four nephews including Mr. Theodore Gilliam whom she raised as a son; 10 nieces; and a great niece, Ms. Nakelia Gilliam whom she raised as a granddaughter; and a host of other relatives and friends. In addition to her husband and parents, one brother, Mr. Archie Wilborn; and two sisters, Mrs. Jeanetta Johnson and Mrs. Minnie Stewart, also preceded Mrs. Stewart in death.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 19, at noon at Bethel Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Marvin Bowman officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 6109 Mount Laurel Road, Clover, VA.
