Mary Towles Waldrop Faris, born April 19, 1929, died peacefully in her daughter’s home in North Ft. Myers on April 23, 2012.
She was married to Guy Faris Jr. and was the daughter of Dilsey Towles Waldrop and Walter William Waldrop of South Boston, who preceded her in death.
She was a former superintendent of the Halifax County Welfare Department and worked at The Woodview as an intake coordinator.
Mary Towles was a member of Trinity Episcopal Church, past regent of the Berrymen Green Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution and past president of the Banister River Garden Club. She enjoyed working in the yard, arranging flowers and took special pride in her boxwood.
She is survived by her daughter, Frances Faris, of North Ft. Myers, Fla. and will be missed by the granddogs, Legs and Pete.
A graveside service will be held at Oak Ridge Cemetery on Friday, May 4, 2012, at 2 p.m.
