Alvah George ‘A.G.’ Wilson

Alvah George ‘A.G.’ Wilson, 73, of 3167 Virgilina Road, Virgilina passed away Monday, April 1, 2013, at The Woodview. He was born May 27, 1939 in Halifax County the son of the late Asa Wright Wilson and Louise Long Lowery and was married to the late Edith Guthrie Wilson. 

Mr. Wilson was a member of Florence Avenue Baptist Church and was also a proud farmer. He was a retired weave supervisor with Burlington Industries.

Survivors include two daughters, Cheryl W. Deal of Virgilina and Wendy W. Brooks and husband Saunders of Danville; one son, Sammy G. Wilson, and wife Laura of Virgilina; one brother, Merritt Wilson, of Virgilina; his granddaughters, Tanya Young, Ashley Deal, Elizabeth Deal, Anna Brooks and Karington Brooks; his grandsons, Charles Irby, Josh Deal and Greg Wilson; and two great-grandchildren, Kaylee Wilson and Keagan Wilson.

Two brothers, Jerry Wilson and Curtis Wilson; and one sister, Christine Bates, also preceded Mr. Wilson in death.

Funeral services will be held at Brooks Funeral Home chapel Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 2 p.m. with the Revs. Jack Stewart and Norman Talley officiating. Burial will follow in Virgilina Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and other times at his home.
