Mr. Ronald Lee Wilson of Vernon Hill died Sunday, March 11, 2012, at his home. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, Halifax. Mr. Wilson was born in Indianapolis, Ind., on August 14, 1941, the son of the late Fern Collier Wilson and Kenneth W. Wilson.
He was predeceased by his stepfather, Raymond S. Lakin, and one sister, Mrs. Ann Kleiner.
Mr. Wilson attended School #16 and George Washington High School in Indianapolis, Ind. He served in the United States Navy from Aug. 17, 1958 to July 3, 1962 and was employed by the IBM Corporation in Poughkeepsie, N.Y. from Aug. 2, 1965 until retiring, Aug. 2, 1995. He was an avid fisherman and bowler with the Chase City Bowling League in South Boston. He was a beloved father and grandfather who was loved dearly.
Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife, Rita M. Wilson; two daughters, Ms. Stacy L. Wilson, Roni A. Conners and husband, Peter G. Conners of Vernon Hill; one son, Albert J. Smith, of Gorham, Maine; 14 grandchildren; one brother, John Wilson and wife Mary Wilson; three sisters, Marge Huber, Virginia Cromer and Brenda Johnson; and a host of nieces and nephews, all of Indianapolis, Ind.
Visitation for Mr. Wilson was held Tuesday, March 13, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 197 Mountain Road, Halifax. Funeral services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church Wednesday at 2 p.m., with the Rev. Gary Butterworth officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
