Mary Jane Davis Holbein, age 93, of Ohio passed away at home Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2012. She was preceded in death by husband Albert S. Holbein Sr.; parents, Todd and Ona Davis; sister, Virginia Carter; son-in-law, David Locklin; granddaughters, Mary Michael and Heidi Blizzard. Survivors include one sister, Louise (James) Pavey; daughters, Sallie Holbein (partner Betty M. Conner) of Halifax and Evelyn Aleshire Locklin of Columbus Ohio; and son, Albert “Bud” (Charlene) Holbein Jr. of Chandler, Ariz.; her grandchildren, Cynthia (Tom Katsoulis), Nelson-Katsoulis, Leroy Legg Jr., Evelyn Legg, Henry (Cristy) Nelson Jr., Nancy (Steve Sather) Locklin, Barbara Locklin (fiance Mark Roth), Kathy (Frank Morgan) Aleshire, Joe Aleshire, Hans (Tiffany) Holbein, Jeffery Holbein, Ramona (Jared Donnellon) Curley; 23 great-grandchildren; and eight great-great grandchildren. She will be sadly missed by numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.
Mary loved living at Claremont Retirement Village where she made many close friends and was known as the “Hat Lady” with a collection of almost 100 hats. Mary retired from Ohio State University-National Center for Research on Vocational Education. She was a lifetime member of the National Secretaries Association, enjoyed working in the Claremont library and being part of the Dublin City Schools Senior Council. She enjoyed bingo, playing cards, crocheting, family celebrations, eating out, and especially loved shopping.
She was a member of North Baptist Church and considered Riverside United Methodist Church as her other church home.

Friends may call at O.R. Woodyard Funeral Home, 2990 Bethel Road, Columbus, Ohio on Friday, Feb. 24, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Family will be available one hour prior to the service at 10:30 a.m. funeral service Saturday. Pastor David Griebner will officiate. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Cemetery.
All who attend the service are encouraged to wear a hat (or you can wear one of Mary’s) in celebration of her wonderful life.
