Rev. Effie Louise Medley Coleman of 2104 Rev. Coleman Road, Clover died Thursday, June 16, 2011, at Suburban Hospital in Bethesda, Md. at the age of 86.
Rev. Coleman was born in Halifax County on Sept. 23, 1924 to the late Mr. Sterling Medley and Mrs. Fannie Ewell Medley. She was married to the late Mr. Joseph S. Coleman Sr. and was a member of St. Matthew Baptist Church.
Rev. Coleman is survived by two sons, Mr. Joseph Coleman Jr. and wife Dr. Vanessa Coleman of Potomac, Md. and Mr. William Coleman and wife Regine of Clover; two daughters, Mrs. Claudette Coleman and husband Akahziah of Israel and Ms. Barbara Washington-Coleman of Baltimore, Md.; two sisters, Mrs. Barbara Spratling and her husband, Fortson, of Jacksonville, Fla. and Mrs. Carrie Nelson of Long Island, N.Y.; four granddaughters, Zoheret Coleman, Perahkiyah Coleman, Denetria Bogan and Casey Coleman (William); two great-grandchildren, Christian Micah and Shia Bogan; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, family and friends including the devoted, Mr. Robert Banks. In addition to her husband and parents, Rev. Coleman was preceded in death by 11 siblings.
Funeral services will be Thursday, June 23, 2011, at 11 a.m. with services at St. Matthew Baptist Church, Clover, with the Rev. Alfred Chandler officiating. Burial will follow in the family cemetery.
The family will receive friends at the chapel of Jeffress Funeral Home on Wednesday evening from 6 until 7, and other times at the residence.
