Maggie Whitlow Neal, age 86, of Red Oak, widow of Thomas Walker Neal, died Saturday, June 5, 2010, at Halifax Regional Hospital in South Boston. A native of Charlotte County, Maggie was born Nov. 15, 1923 to Hurndon Charles and Mattie Cook Whitlow.
She was a graduate of Randolph Henry High School with the class of 1942 and was retired from Burlington Industries, having worked there for many years. She was a member of Antioch Baptist Church.
A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 8, 2010, with the Rev. Jane Lyon officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Neal is survived by her daughter: Rebekah “Becky” Neal of Red Oak; two sons and a daughter-in-law: Thomas Walker Neal Jr. of Baltimore, Md. and Berkley Wayne “Buck” and JoAnn Neal of Red Oak; a granddaughter, Jennifer Neal of Charlottesville. Step-grandchildren, Roger Wilson and Kimberly Gardner, and three step-great grandchildren also survive.
She was preceded in death by a son, Charles Hurndon Neal.
The family received friends Monday from 7-9 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.
