Mrs. Margaret Spangler Ratliff of South Boston died Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at Halifax Regional Hospital. She was born in Halifax County August 3, 1932 and was 77 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Wilbur Cecil Spangler and Bessie Bailey Spangler and was married to the late Glenn Chandler Ratliff Sr. Mrs. Ratliff was a member of the First Baptist Church, South Boston and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Her survivors include one daughter, Carol R. Rose and husband, Randal, of Sutherlin; one son, Glenn Chandler "G.C." Ratliff Jr. and wife, Sandra, of South Boston; two sisters, Edith S. Jones of Belmont, NC and Janet S. Smith of Lynchburg; three grandchildren, Leah, Garrison and Mackenzie; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Two sisters, Dora Brown and Violet Golden; and two brothers, Lloyd and Cecil Spangler, also preceded Mrs. Ratliff in death.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 2, 2010, at 11 a.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Dave Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in Grace Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends Thursday from 7-8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home.
