Mr. Hunter Stebbins Crenshaw of Silver Spring, MD, formerly of Halifax County died Nov. 26, 2009 at Georgetown University Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on April 21, 1922 and was 87 years old at his death. He was the son of the late Eula Stebbins Crenshaw and Elise Newbill Crenshaw and was married to Edith Wilmouth Crenshaw who survives. He was a retired operating engineer and was a member of the Local 77 of the International Union of Operating Engineers. He was also a member of the 10 & 10 Hunt Club.
In addition to his wife of the home, survivors include one son, Kim Hunter Crenshaw of Hampstead, MD; two daughters, Sherry Crenshaw Aitcheson and husband, Pete, of Walforf, MD and Gail Crenshaw Dixon and husband, Christopher, of Westmister, MD; two sisters, Helen Morris and Polly Fitchlee, both of South Boston; one brother, Charles Crenshaw of Mt. Laurel; and five grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Monday, Nov. 30, 2009, at 11 a.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Rathel officiating. Burial will follow at the Oakland Cemetery, Scottsburg.
Visitation was held at Powell Funeral Home Sunday evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m.
