Mr. Roosevelt Franklin Womack of Brooklyn, New York, formerly of Halifax, died Nov. 9 in New York at the age of 77.
Mr. Womack was born in Halifax County on Oct. 18, 1932 to the late Mr. Bernard Younger and Ms. Jossie Womack and was married to Mrs. Pauline Sweeney Womack.
Survivors include his wife of the home; two daughters, Ms. Adrienne Womack and Ms. Deneen Womack, both of Jamaica, Queens, NY; four brothers, Mr. Onzie Womack and Mr. Willie Mack Womack, both of Vernon Hill, Mr. Willie Lewis Womack of South Boston and Mr. Frank Reed of Brooklyn; five sisters, Ms. Alice Womack of Vernon Hill, Mrs. Gladys Barksdale of Nathalie, Ms. Mable Carrington of South Boston, Mrs. Dorothy Fuller of Charlotte, NC and Mrs. Katie Scurry of Philadelphia, PA; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Isabelle Womack; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to his parents, Mr. Womack was preceded in death by one sister, Mrs. Wilsie Powell and one brother, Mr. Fleantol Womack.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Nov. 14, 2009, at 11 a.m. at New Mt. Olive Apostolic Church with District Elder Leonia Palmer officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will be receiving friends at the home of Mr. Willie Mack Womack, 1236 Waltman Trail, Vernon Hill.
