Mrs. Jean Moorefield Fore of 2502 Fernwick Drive, South Boston died Friday, Nov. 6, 2009, at Halifax Regional Hospital after a lengthy illness. She was born in Danville on Oct. 22, 1925 and was 84 years of age. Mrs. Fore was the daughter of the late Alec Dallas Moorefield and Minnie Shelton Moorefield and was married to Carlton Bernard Fore, who survives.
Mrs. Fore was a member of First Baptist Church, South Boston.
In addition to her husband, survivors include two daughters, Betty Carlton Puryear and husband, Donnie, of Raleigh, NC and Kathy Ann Gibbs of Danville; one son, David ‘Mickey’ Fore of South Boston; two grandchildren, Andrea Jean Devin of Richmond and Brooke Glass of OK; one sister, Dorothy Patterson of Danville; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Four sisters, Molly Ward, Virginia Kemp, Nell Bollen and Catharine Johnson, also preceded Mrs. Fore in death.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, at First Baptist Church with the Rev. Jack Stewart and the Rev. Dave Anderson officiating. Burial followed in Oak Ridge Cemetery.
The family received friends Saturday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at her home.
