Helen Anderson Burnett

Helen Anderson Burnett was born March 1, 1915 to Walter Claude and Virginia Hudson Anderson. She was married to Mark Irving Burnett, who preceded her in 1989.

Mrs. Burnett kept active throughout her life by rearing four sons and her devoted duty to Buffalo Baptist Church as director of music and pianist. After moving to South Boston she became an active member of First Baptist Church. She also was an active member of Berryman Green Chapter of the DAR.

She enjoyed a good life of health, which only began to deteriorate over the past couple of years. She has a number of brothers and sisters who predeceased her, and only her brother Cecil of Halifax County survives her. Her grace and elegance will be remembered by those who knew her.

Burnett and wife Alice of Midlothian; 10 grandchildren; a number of great-grandchildren; and one brother, Walter C. “Cecil” Anderson of Halifax.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, Oct. 26, 2009, at 2 p.m. at First Baptist Church in South Boston with the Rev. Dave Anderson and the Rev. Susan Davis conducting the service. Burial will follow at the Gravel Hill Baptist Church Cemetery.
