Mr. Henry Bernard Morris of Red Bank Road, Virgilina died Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2009, at The Woodview nursing home at the age of 82.
He was born on March 26, 1927 to the late Willie Osborne Morris Sr. and Bessie Tuck Morris. He was married first to the late Margaret Welcher Morris and then to Estelle Cox Morris who survives.
Mr. Morris was employed by Westinghouse Electric Corporation and was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a member of Union Christian Church where he was a former deacon.
Mr. Morris is survived by his wife of the home; two daughters, Carolyn Morris Whitlow and husband Danny of South Boston, Freida Morris Sneed and husband John of Dover, DE; two sons, Carey D. Morris of Virgilina and Earl W. Morris and wife Stacy of Nathalie; two step-daughters, Joyce C. Green and husband Ronnie of South Boston, Linda C. Howell of Farmville; one sister, Barbara Morris Holt and husband Coy of Cluster Springs; one brother, Gerald G. Morris of Virgilina; one sister, Beatrice M. Buchanan of Clarksville; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two step-granddaughters; one step-great-grandchild; and special friends, Jr. and Paula Talley.
In addition to his parents and first wife, Mr. Morris was preceded in death by one son, Henry Allen Morris; and by six brothers, Thomas Morris, Albert Morris, Franklin Morris, Woodrow Morris, Willie O. Morris Jr. and David Morris.
Funeral services for Mr. Morris were held at 2 p.m. Friday, Oct. 16, at Union Christian Church with the Rev. Jimmy Pulliam and the Rev. Scott Welch officiating. Burial followed in the Virgilina Cemetery.
The family received friends at Brooks Funeral Home on Thursday, Oct. 15, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.
