Mr. James Durrie ‘Junie’ Chandler Jr. of Danville, formerly of Halifax County, died Tuesday, Oct. 6 at his residence at the age of 60.
Mr. Chandler was born in Halifax County on September 11, 1949 to Mrs. Hennette Chandler Chandler and the late Mr. James Durrie Chandler Sr. and was affiliated with the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses congregation in Danville.
Mr. Chandler is survived by three daughters, Ms. Tanya Chandler-Porter of Baltimore, MD, Mrs. Brandy Walkins of Lynchburg and Mrs. LaKeisha Smith-Herbin of Roxboro, NC; six sons, Mr. James Chandler III of Greensboro, NC, Mr. Michael Chandler and Mr. Derick Chandler, both of New Jersey, Mr. Benjamin Boyd of Charlotte, NC, Mr. Brad Booth of Texas and Mr. Bryant Booth of Fayetteville, NC; 31 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; his mother of South Boston; eight sisters, Ms. Sandy Carrington of Ft. Washington, MD, Mrs. Diane Greene of Halifax, Mrs. Rosalind Dickerson of Mt. Airy, Ms. Barbara Fallen, Mrs. Darlene Chappell and Mrs. Shernita Ferrell, all of South Boston, Ms. Juanita Owen of Roxboro, NC and Mrs. Cornelia Barksdale of Greensboro, NC; two brothers, Mr. Mark Chandler of Roxboro and Mr. Bruce Chandler of South Boston; two sons-in-law; five brothers-in-law; one sister-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Memorial services for Mr. Chandler will be held Saturday, Oct. 10 at 2 p.m. at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses, Danville, with Brother Arthur Moore officiating. Interment will follow in the Chandler Family Cemetery, Crystal Hill.
The family will receive friends at the home of Mrs. Hennette Chandler, 106 East Forest Trail, South Boston.
