Mr. Bobby Lee Loyd of South Boston died Sept. 25, 2009 at the Halifax Regional Hospital. He was born in Halifax County on April 11, 1942 and was 67 years old. He was the son of the late Charlie Thomas Loyd and the late Luvinia Russell Loyd and married to the late Margaret Rebecca ‘Becky’ Loyd.
Mr. Loyd was a member of Centerville United Church of Christ and attended Union United Methodist Church. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and owner-operator of Flags and Such.
Survivors include one daughter Margaret LeAnn Creasy and husband, Jay, of South Boston; one son, Wallace Spencer Loyd and wife, Michelle, of South Boston; two grandchildren, Zachary Tyler Loyd and Rebecca Ellen Loyd, both of South Boston; two brothers, Shirley Edward Loyd of Roxboro, NC and Eugene Davis Loyd of South Boston; a number of nieces and nephews; and his beloved companion, Anne Saunders of South Boston. One brother, Charlie R. Loyd, also preceded him in death.
Funeral services will be held today, Sept. 28 at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Maxine Crenshaw officiating. Burial will follow in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family received friends Sunday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, 512 Greenway Drive, South Boston.
