Mr. Daniel Webster ‘Dude’ Perkins Sr. of 1072 Union Church Road, Halifax died Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009, at his home. He was born in Halifax County Oct. 19, 1934 and was 74 years of age. He was the son of the late Isaac Perkins and Ethel Perkins Perkins and was married to Janet Womack Perkins, who survives.
In addition to his wife, survivors include one daughter, Michele McCubbins and husband, Dean, of South Boston; one son, Daniel W. ‘Buck’ Perkins of the home and special friend, Dee Carson; his grandchildren, Ashley and Tyler Sweeney, both of South Boston; two sisters, Mabel Conner of Halifax and Hazel Hersman of Richmond; one brother, Charlie Perkins of Vernon Hill; six sisters-in-law, Kim Conner and Patricia Vaughan, both of Halifax, Carolyn Perkins of Vernon Hill, Donna Hazelwood of Scottsburg, Dawn Anderson of Dry Fork and Jean Perkins of Gum Springs; three brothers-in-law, Lee Womack of Halifax, Ronald Womack of Rebecca, GA and Robert Womack of Pelham, NC; his mother-in-law, Regina Womack of Halifax; and his special friends, Tom Cole and Kenny Rice. One brother, Andrew Perkins; and his father-in-law, Hurley Womack Sr., also preceded Mr. Perkins in death.
Funeral services will be held Sept. 26 at 2 p.m. at Powell Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Maxine Crenshaw and Jeaux Simmons officiating. Burial will follow in Union United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home this evening from 7 until 8:30 p.m. and other times at his home.
