Mrs. Maidy Bane Landrum 3071 Mountain Road, Halifax died Monday, Sept. 21, 2009 at Berry Hill Nursing Home. She was born in Halifax County November 6, 1914 and was 94 years of age. She was the daughter of the late James Puryear and Nannie Jo Chandler Puryear. She was married first to the late William Sydnor Bane then to the late William Landrum.
Mrs. Landrum was a member of Halifax Baptist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Nancy B. Wilborn of Halifax; two grandchildren, Nancy Andrews Pappenhagen and husband, James, of Holly Springs, NC and Mary Andrews Crowder and husband, Preston, of Halifax; two great-grandchildren, James Thomas Pappenhagen of Holly Springs and Matthew Thomas Crowder of Halifax; and one sister, Mattie Puryear Moore of Roanoke.
One son, Matthew Thomas Bane; one great-granddaughter, Mary Ellen Crowder; four brothers, Andrew, Stephen, Lewis and Willie; and three sisters, Molly Williams, Louise Henderson and Mabel Puryear, also preceded Mrs. Landrum in death.
A graveside service will be held today, Sept. 23, at 2 p.m. at Halifax Baptist Church with the Rev. Eddie Collins officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service.
Arrangements are by Powell Funeral Home, 1603 Wilborn Avenue, South Boston.
