Mrs. Joyce Cranford Whitt of South Boston died Wednesday, June 18, 2014, at her home. She was born in Tarboro, North Carolina, on April 11, 1934 and was 80 years of age. She was the daughter of the late Roy Cranford and Minnie Minton Cranford and is survived by her husband, Lacy Roosevelt Whitt. Mrs. Whitt was a member of Cherry Hill United Methodist Church.
In addition to her husband, survivors include one daughter, Rebecca W. Hutcherson, and husband Ricky of South Boston; three grandchildren, Shawn Short of South Boston, Eric Whitt of California and Meredith Whitt of Stafford; three great-grandchildren, Patrick Simmons, Cameron and Brooklyn Short; and seven brothers and sisters.
Two sons, Michael and Stanley Whitt, two brothers and one sister, also preceded Mrs. Whitt in death.
A graveside service will be held at Cherry Hill United Methodist Church cemetery Saturday, June 21, 2014, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Patricia Neilsen officiating.
The family will receive friends at the church for one hour prior to the service and other times at her home, 3071 E. Hyco Road, South Boston.
