Beatrice Moore Hawkins, 89, died Sunday, June 15, 2014, at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
A lifelong resident of Halifax County, Beatrice was born Sept. 7, 1924, to William Bacon Moore and Lona Seamons Moore. She graduated from Halifax High School and worked at the Cotton Mill during World War II and later at Pacific Mills.
She was married to the late Ira K. Hawkins.
Beatrice is survived by her daughter, Nancy, of Winston-Salem; her son, William (Bill), of Forest; and granddaughter Hannah of Forest and Amelia Courthouse.
Her brother, Calvin Scott Moore, died in France during World War II, and a sister, Rachel Cliborne, died in 2009.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 21, 2014, at Union United Methodist Church with burial in the church cemetery. The church will open one hour prior to the service. A reception will follow the service in the church fellowship hall.
