Mr. Joe Lloyd, 66, of Scottsburg passed away Monday, May 26, 2014, at Duke University Hospital.
He was born in Halifax County on April 6, 1948 to the late James Thomas Lloyd and the late Hennie Brown Lloyd and was married to the late Charlotte Epps Lloyd.
Mr. Lloyd was a supervisor for J. P. Stevens and then Dollar General, a U.S. Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War, a lifelong member of Winns Creek Baptist Church where he was a deacon and choir member for many years.
He loved his dogs, Avi and Stella.
Survivors include one daughter, Donna Turner, and husband Tony of Alton; one son, Chad Lloyd, and wife Sarah of Winchester; five grandchildren, Alex Turner, Anthony Turner, Lainey Turner, Hannah Lloyd and Sadie Lloyd; one brother, Allen Lloyd, and wife Linda of South Boston; one sister, Helen L. Barksdale, and husband Bruce of Halifax; sisters and brothers-in-law, Dorothy Kinder, Richard Epps, Connie Gail Womack, Jackie Ingram and Linda Hart.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one son, Brock Everett Lloyd, siblings, Gracie Wilson, Hazel Barker, Howard “Sonny Boy” Lloyd, James Clarence Lloyd and Franklin Lloyd.
Funeral services will be held Friday, May 30, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Winns Creek Baptist Church with the Revs. James Kopco and Barry Chambers officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
The family will receive friends Thursday, May 29, 2014, from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Winns Creek Baptist Church and other times at his home.
Those wishing to give memorials are asked to consider a donation to the church cemetery.
