Clara Royster Lewis, age 90, of 768 Arlington Road, Danville died Wednesday, April 30, 2014, at Riverside Health and Rehabilitation Center.
Mrs. Lewis was born in Danville on April 24, 1924, a daughter of the late Maude Slade Royster and Jesse Carr Royster.
Mrs. Lewis was a lifelong member of Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church and held many offices over the years. She was married on Feb. 28, 1947 to the late Calvin Fuller Lewis who died on March 5, 2011.
Surviving are her loving daughter, Judy Lewis Tuck, and her husband, Edward, of South Boston; sister Ruth R. Pearson; grandchildren Natalie B. Whitlow and her husband, William, and Lori Brooks Luther, Chris Luther; four great-grandchildren, Tyler Lewis Whitlow, Brianna Whitlow, Cami Whitlow and Christopher Luther; brothers-in-law Robert Lewis and his wife, Hilda, of Spring Garden, Clarence Lewis and his wife, Florence, John Lewis and his wife, Geraldine, Felix Lewis and his wife, Marie, and Paul Lewis and his wife, Barbara, all of Danville.
The Lewis family would like to especially thank the Rev. Paul Johnson for being so close to them at all times and a special thanks to Florence and Clarence Lewis who gave so much of their time and love to us all. Also the special caretakers who lovingly looked after mom until the end, Annie Waller, Faye Turner, Donna Rose and others.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 2, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Shelton Memorial Presbyterian Church with the Rev. Paul Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Highland Burial Park.
The family will receive friends at the residence, 768 Arlington Road, Danville.
