Funeral services for John Jasper Pointer III, 36, known as (Little John) will be conducted at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Cherrystone Missionary Baptist Center, Ringgold. Burial will be at Greater Brandon Chapel Baptist Church, Alton, with the Rev. Harold Watkins officiating. The viewing was from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Greater Brandon Chapel Baptist Church.
John was born in Danville on Jan. 30, 1978. He departed his earthly life on April 10, 2014. He was the son of John Jasper Pointer Jr. and Fairy Coleman Pointer of Alton.
He is survived by two sons, John Thomas Pointer and Jaylen Jasper Pointer, both of Ringgold; his wife, Teu Pointer; one brother, Esless Scott Pointer, of Danville; two sisters-in-law, Shalunda Pointer and Nyisha Medley-Freeze, both of Danville; mother and father-in-law Larry and Mary Medley of Alton; seven aunts, Alieen Martin of Axton, Minister Florence Jeffreys of Alton, Brenda Goode of Sutherlin, Karetha Medley of Alton, Deborah Logan of Atlanta, Ga., Audrey Pointer of Durham, N.C., and Evelyn Pointer of Atlanta; 12 uncles, Mason Coleman, Allen Coleman, Linwood Coleman, Roland Coleman, Phillip Coleman, Robert Coleman, James Coleman, Carl Pointer Sr., David Pointer and Stacy Pointer, all of Alton, Cecil Coleman of Round Hill, Antonio Pointer of Atlanta, Ga.; two nephews, Esless Scott Pointer Jr. and Santana Freeze, of Danville; and one niece, Lilia Freeze, of Danville; and a host of cousins and other relatives and friends.
Plenty Funeral Home, Semora, N.C. is in charge of arrangements.
