Mary Thomas ‘Lib’ Chandler

Mrs. Mary Thomas “Lib” Chandler of South Boston passed away Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at The Woodview. 

She was born in Halifax County on April 22, 1919 and was 94 years old. She was the daughter of the late Ulysses Simpson Thomas and Bessie Satterfield Thomas and was married to the late Roland Frazier Chandler.  

She was a member of the South Boston Seventh Day Adventist Church where she was the church pianist. She once wrote and published a song, “Dreaming.”

Survivors include two stepsons, Thomas Chandler and wife Joanne of Poquoson and
Carroll Frazier Chandler and wife Diane of Bolivia, N.C.;
one sister,
Joyce Francisco, and husband Harry of Richmond; five grandchildren;
and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held Friday, April 4, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Oak Ridge Cemetery with the Rev. Darry Campbell officiating.  

The family will receive friends at Powell Funeral Home on Thursday evening from 7 to 8:30.
