Mrs. Margaret Graves Hamilton of College Street, South Boston died Saturday, March 29, 2014, at her residence at the age of 91.
Mrs. Hamilton was born in Mebane, North Carolina on Oct. 4, 1922 and was the daughter of the late Mr. Herman Graves and Mrs. Bertha Badgett Graves Brown. She was first married to the late Mr. Stacey L. Watlington and later married the late Mr. Moses P. Hamilton.
Mrs. Hamilton was a member of Ebenezer Christian Methodist Episcopal Church and for many years she, along with her son, operated the former Acorn Nursery.
Mrs. Margaret G. Hamilton is survived by four daughters, Ms. Maxine Snowden of Washington, D.C., Miss Camilla Watlington of South Boston, Ms. Gerald Sherrod and Ms. Yvonne Foman, both of Upper Marlboro, Md.; two sons, Mr. Stacy L. Watlington Jr. and wife Doris of Henrico, N.C. and Mr. Sandy L. Watlington of Manassas; six grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one brother, Mr. Louis Graves and wife Mary Lou of Oxford, N.C.; five sisters-in-law, Mrs. Vivian Clark, Mrs. Amelia Hamilton, Mrs. Pauline Graves, Mrs. Emily Driggans and Mrs. Annie Mae Ferrell; one brother-in-law, Mr. Levi Hamilton; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mrs. Margaret Graves Hamilton will be Thursday, April 3, at 11 a.m. at Ebenezer Christian Methodist Episcopal Church with the Rev. Andre’ Williamson officiating. Burial will follow in Blackwell Baptist Church Cemetery in Yanceyville, N.C.
The family will be receiving friends at the church on Thursday from 10 a.m. until service time.
