Mr. Joseph Lee Wilcox of Virgilina Road, Virgilina died Thursday, March 20, 2014, in Durham, N.C. at the age of 70.
Mr. Wilcox was born in Clarksville on July 4, 1943 to the late Mr. Wade Wilcox and Mrs. Blanche Dotson Wilcox. He was married to Mrs. Betty Allen Wilcox and was a member of Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church.
Mr. Wilcox is survived by his wife, Mrs. Betty A. Wilcox, of the home; one daughter, Mrs. Tameika W. Dunkley, and husband Frank of Virgilina; two sons, Mr. Russell Allen of Vista, Calif., and Mr. Lamont Wilcox of Charleston, S.C.; three grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Mildred Saunders of Clarksville and Mrs. Lucille Skipwith of New York, N.Y.; one brother, Mr. James Wilson, of Clarksville; one aunt, Mrs. Mary Lou Tuck, of Henderson, N.C.; two sisters-in-law, Mrs. Lunnie Taborn of Oxford, N.C., and Mrs. Lillie Jacobs of Virgilina; two brothers-in-law, Mr. Nathaniel Allen and wife Anita of Rocky Mount, N.C., and Mr. Robert Allen of Wilmington, N.C.; and a host of nieces, nephews, including the devoted Mr. Jerry Carter Jr. of South Boston, and other relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Wilcox was preceded in death by two sisters, Ms. Maggie Wilcox and Mrs. Evelyn Kersey, and one brother, Mr. Charles Wilcox.
Funeral services for Mr. Joseph Lee Wilcox will be held Monday, March 24, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Zion Hill Missionary Baptist Church with the Rev. Rodney Dillard Jr. officiating.
Public visitation for family and friends was Sunday, March 23, 2014, from noon until 6 p.m. at Jeffress Funeral Home.
The family is receiving friends at the residence, 5238 Virgilina Road, Virgilina.
