Librarian eager to enjoy small town life

The newly hired 29-year-old South Boston Library Branch Manager, Chris Thompson of Warrington, N.C., is excited to come to work in a small town.

HCCA luminary service set Dec. 8

Halifax County Cancer Association will hold a luminary service on Sunday, Dec. 8, at 5:15 p.m. on the steps of the courthouse in Halifax.  The service will be held as a way to honor or remember a loved one that is fighting or has lost their battle to cancer.  

New library branch manager moving from Raleigh to SoBo

Library board members announced Tuesday they would soon welcome newcomer, Chris Thompson, as the new South Boston library branch manager.

Ribbon cutting, tour held for county’s newest plant

Rat woes exposed in closed meeting treated as personnel issue

A few eyebrows were raised Monday night when Halifax County School Board Chairman Kim Farson said trustees had discussed the rat droppings incident at Halifax County Middle School behind closed doors following a school board meeting in July.
